After presenting our ideas for our exhibition to the class for feedback, we have discussed the following options below, as concepts of how we can further develop our ideas in response to the feedback we gathered from the lecturer and our peers.
Thoughts on the development of our three ideas:
Thoughts on the development of our three ideas:
- Having projectors and screens imbedded into the stage/platform.
- Inflatable balloons coming out of the platform/stage.
- Fabric coming out of the display
- Helium? Balloon material?
- Organics shapes
- Raise the platform from high to low
- Platform made from wood, coated with oil
- Landscape idea – naturalistic
- Use a orangey red wood colour to fit in with the interior of the room
After brainstorming the ideas above we decided to have one main stage/platform, which contains everything we need for the exhibition to be displayed, positioned, placed on this main source. We decided that everything will revolve around and in this large structure which is based on the idea of a giant landscape.
We decided to look at this structure as a landscape that references to our country, New Zealand. As designers from New Zealand this form represents and is an icon of our land and nation. We discussed that we would keep our designs quite natural looking and environmentally based. We thought that this idea would also visually connect quite well with the interior of our room. A red wooden look and texture would fit in rather well with the old fashion, deep reds, and beige/cream walls, with gold trims surrounding the displays, also combining that natural element into the display of the configuration.
We also agreed that everything required for the performance, installation, surfaces, the entire display will contain everything need for the exhibition. This includes, the screens, projections, projectors, iPads, lights, speakers, sensors, wires and units (inside the box/structure), electronic's (raspberry pies), and anything else that is required in order for the display to function correctly.
At this stage we have discussed the options of having a material come out of the main display/structure, but couldn't quite come to a final decision. The ideas didn't seem to work or fit well, so we have need to think about that idea a bit further.
From here, we decided that we would each go do some research on different types of platforms, and create some designs of our own structure/platforms for our main landscape, the main attraction for our exhibition. We will then come together again, and possibly choose the best design, or create a combination between a few ideas we have constructed.
Some ideas of how to develop ideas further:

Some ideas of how to develop ideas further:
- Make a scale model to get a better understanding
- Use shapes to create a platform/stage
- Research spatial precedents, and artist models
